September news!
WI Newsletter
September 2019
August fun!
Our in-house event was small but delightful. The lines we made (things like how far away we were born, etc.) produced unexpected and interesting conversations and the WI quiz that followed showed that we know more than we realise about our organisation.
Smart September
Caroline Walton is a personal stylist who offers colour analysis, a wardrobe edit, personal shopping and various bespoke and corporate services – and she’s coming to us this month to share her wisdom! It should be an exciting session.
Timing:
Please note that we have no access to the hall before 7.30 and setting it up takes about 15 mins minimum. Unless you are involved in setting up, please do not arrive before 7.45. Thanks for your help in this!
Denman raffle
The raffle has started well. It is only open to members of Clifton WI and it will be drawn at our Annual Meeting in October. The prizes are bursaries for Denman College. The lucky winner will receive a voucher for £360 (which covers most 2 day courses) and the "runner up" a voucher for £150 which covers a one day non-residential course. This is an ideal opportunity to enjoy the Denman experience. If you want to know more about courses on offer then visit https://www.denman.org.uk/courses. There will also be brochures to peruse at the meeting. Please note there will be no cash alternative.
Coming Events
The next three months look really good! In October we have our annual meeting, with the Denman raffle and a musical presentation in the form of Pete Quin singing and telling us about his journey as a professional musician. In November we have Zentangle, rebooked after her earlier cancellation, helping us to make beautiful images. Finally in December we have our Christmas party. We hope to be able to give you full details of this at the September meeting.
Business:
Our Committee for next year is shaping up nicely, with a new recruit confirmed and at least two others interested in joining. This month we welcome Helen Bowen as a co-opted member, planning to take over as Treasurer from Sally next year. We still need at least one further recruit to the Committee, so if you fancy shaping the future of Clifton WI, please chat with one of the current Committee about joining us.
