Meetings each month 🗓
We meet face to face on the last Weds of each month.
We follow infection control guidelines in place at the time for any infectious outbreaks.
We keep our blog cliftonwi.blogspot.com updated for anyone interested in coming to a meeting as a visitor £5.00 (cash payments please).
It would be good to see you, no obligation to join - just come and see what we get up to.
Members are also invited to bring visitors to our monthly meetings
To give you a flavour, here are our planned sessions for the next 12 months
January 25th: We focus on the Resolutions the WI want us to consider for 2023.
Members will have more details in their regular WI Magazine but the headlines are:
February 22nd: The Magic of Minack with Sandy Bateman
March 29th: The History of Keeping Warm in Bed with Reginald King - sounds intriguing!
April 26th: Children of the 90s - long term health research with Professor Kate Northstone of Bristol University
May 31st: Our own Gill has a Wines & Spirits Trust Diploma, and will share some lesser known wines with you from different areas of the world.
June 28th: Release your secret “alterego” as Laura aka Kiki Kisses shows us how you can get fit, lose weight, gain confidence and have fun Burlesque Chair Dancing. Suitable for all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities!
July 26th Our summer social usually involving a walk designed by one of our members ending at a pub in the Clifton area
August 30th: Herbs & Remedies Flower Valley Herbs Jutta Blumenthal is a medical herbalist who has practiced in Bristol since 1996, and will show us the use of kitchen herbs for common ailments.
September 27th We have local author A A Abbott talking on the theme of Crime Fiction, Career Changes and Coffee
October 25th A look at a local environmental project Cleaning Up The River Trym with Peter Coleman-Smith. We will then have our annual meeting where we have to agree who will be our key committee members for the next 12 months. Every member who attends has a vote
Clifton WI is also 15 years old this month so we will certainly celebrate in some way
November 29th One of our member's husbands Gordon Young will give us a talk on the Avon Gorge. Gordon took some of the members into the towers of the Suspension Bridge earlier this year. He has heaps of knowledge and information so even if you think you know about the Gorge it would be worth coming along.
December Christmas Party date Weds 13th December. Venue and time to be confirmed but likely to be at the Eastfield Inn in Henleaze to try our hand at playing skittles
We are always interested to hear of suggestions for future topics and speakers from our members. We try to provide a mixture across the year.
