A Floral Field Trip

Image
Our group recently took a trip to Yeo Valley Organic Garden, and had a lovely time! They managed to (mostly) escape the rain, and enjoyed a well-deserved lunch after a full morning of exploring the beautiful grounds. The ladies highly recommend a visit! Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday 26 June at 7:30pm, when we will hear from Andy Workman about the power of positivity, and learn more about thinking ourselves lucky! Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings with a £5 donation.  Any questions, concerns, or suggestions? Get in touch with us at thecliftonwi@gmail.com.

Dance Like Nobody's Watching!

Break out your dancing shoes because our next speaker is local ballet and fitness instructor Alyson Potter-Wood of Silver Swans! We will be hearing all about this fabulous group, seeing a bit of a demonstration, and then joining in the dancing fun! This is surely not one to miss. We will be meeting in our usual location, the rear hall of Alma Church, at 7.30pm. Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings with a £5 donation.  Any questions, concerns, or suggestions? Cold Hall, Warm Hearts!

Image
Our last meeting was met with mild weather outdoors, but rather chilly temps indoors! The heating was broken in Alma Hall, but the beautiful church came to our rescue with a grander backdrop than we're used to for our monthly meeting. We had a lovely time catching up and discussing the resolutions, which led to a lively debate, and took the opportunity to shop at our book and regifting stalls. A special thanks to those who helped the evening go smoothly, despite the change of venue. Unfortunately, it appears February is going to turn cold once again! We had a little reprieve from winter, but it was not to last. So, we will have to keep warm together and listen to another wonderful speaker. On 28 February, we will host Claire Hiscock, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon & Somerset. She will discuss their priorities for tackling violence against women and girls in our area. We will be meeting in our usual location, the rear hall of Alma Church, at 7.30pm. Visitors are a...

Keep your eyes peeled for the 2024 Programme update in the coming days.  Our next meeting will be January 31st, and will center on the WI Resolutions for 2024, as well as some fun group activities to get us all excited about the next year. We will be meeting in our usual location, the rear hall of Alma Church, at 7.30pm. Sparklers & Bubbly

Join us on 29 November for our next monthly meeting! We will hear from Gordon Young about the Avon Gorge, Clifton Suspension Bridge, and even relive the spectacular 2015 fireworks display!  Additionally, our lovely Clifton WI is celebrating 15 years at our November meeting. We will be celebrating with sparklers and a glass of bubbly, so make sure you join us for a very lovely evening.  As always, we will be meeting in the rear hall of Alma Church at 7.30pm. Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings with a £5 donation. Any questions, concerns, or gratuitous compliments? Get in touch with us at thecliftonwi@gmail.com!

Celebrations for Clifton WI

Image
In November 2023, Clifton WI will have been in existence for 15 years. In true style, we will be aiming to mark the occasion! Sparklers will be involved, which fits with our talk on the Clifton Suspension Bridge celebrations over the years. Skittles? Actually no..... this is more what we have in mind! Party Time for Members On December 13th we will be celebrating Christmas a little early with skittles and a buffet supper in Henleaze at the Eastfield Inn.  Doubtless there will be games and challenges in true Clifton WI style.   Details of tickets for members will be coming in the next newsletter.  Dig out your festive party gear (that allows for playing skittles) perhaps leave your 'Jimmy Choos' at home! Visitors are welcome to come along to any of our other monthly meetings in the Alma Church Hall to see what else we get up to.

Keeping it local this Autumn at Clifton WI

Image
We have a focus on local for our meetings this Autumn September involves local author A A Abbott  talking about her work and how she goes about writing her books In October we are finding out about a recent local restoration project at the River Trym.  This is a small local river which is used for walks by many living in NW Bristol In November, we will learn about one of the most famous of our landmarks in Bristol; the Avon Gorge  At all our meetings you can get to meet other members or visitors, have a drink and generally get a feel for what we like to get up to at Clifton WI.   Visitors are always welcome.   We ask for a £5.00 payment (in cash) but you don't have to commit to join us and can visit up to 3 times.  Please get in touch if you would like any more information thecliftonwi@gmail.com  thecliftonwi@gmail.com
