Welcome to 2019!

After the joys of the Christmas Party, we all need to calm down, so this month we have a presentation from 
Diane Rodgers, Holistic Massage Therapist
on
Massage for Wellbeing.

She will speak on the benefits of massage for physical, mental and emotional health. She will also give a demo and tips on how we can share this with family and friends, and there will be an opportunity to practice together in the workshop. 

We will also be processing this year's membership forms and handing out membership cards, and finally, we will be thinking about this year's resolutions. Add in time to chat and catch up on news and it's going to be a busy meeting!

Membership: forms are available on-line. You can now pay this month's subscription by BACS in advance. If you pay online, please do so as soon as possible, so that Sally has time to process all the payments, and remember to put who you are on the payment. Whether you decide to pay by BACS, cheque or cash, please bring this year's membership form with you to the meeting.

Resolutions:
At the beginning of the meeting, members of the Committee will be giving very brief descriptions of each of the resolutions proposed this year. You will have a chance to discuss them during the evening and we will ask you to vote at the end. We will collate all the votes and send the totals to Avon for inclusion in the national figures. It's one member, one vote and all votes get counted individually (i.e. we don't just tell them which resolution got most votes from Clifton WI). 

The resolutions up for discussion this year are:
1. Improving Plant Biosecurity in the UK
2. Trees - Improving the Natural Landscape
3. Pelvic Floor Education
4. Suffering in Silence; why we need to end the taboo around menstrual health
5. A Call against the Decline in Local Bus Services
6. Don't Fear the Smear

Some events and ideas for Clifton WI members over this summer

Clifton WI members like to get out and about in smaller groups for outings and visits.   We have some planned dates and ideas so do come along to our next meeting on April 26th or look out for your next newsletter in your inbox for further details. 🌸 👣 🎭 ♣🍲🚶🌉 In May a group are heading to Hanham Court Gardens, in July we have our annual meeting 'on the hoof' when we go for a walk ending in a local pub.  In addition, some will be going to find out a bit more of the shady history of life in Bedminster on a guided walk and we are also thinking of planning a visit to the hidden parts of Clifton Suspension Bridge.   This is in addition to monthly meetings and all our social groups getting together for theatre trips, meals or to review books and play a variety of games. July 26th our summer walk and pub visit

  For our July meeting at Clifton WI we like to get out and about.   This time we are heading to the Harbour We will meet outside the Nova Scotia Pub at the far end of the harbour at 7.00pm on Weds 26th July.  There is parking in this area in the evening for those who will be driving or sharing lifts. We aim to walk around a route chosen by 2 of our members and return to the pub for a drink at the end.  It will not be the complete harbour walk  Should you not want to join us for the walk but would like to come along any way, please head to the pub for appx 8.15 - 8.30(ish) Visitors are welcome to join us but we do request a payment of £5.00 cash.  This can be a good way to meet some of us Clifton WI members without having to go to a meeting in the hall as your first step.

Sparklers & Bubbly

  Join us on 29 November for our next monthly meeting! We will hear from Gordon Young about the Avon Gorge, Clifton Suspension Bridge, and even relive the spectacular 2015 fireworks display!  Additionally, our lovely Clifton WI is celebrating 15 years at our November meeting. We will be celebrating with sparklers and a glass of bubbly, so make sure you join us for a very lovely evening.  As always, we will be meeting in the rear hall of Alma Church at 7.30pm.
