Clifton WI special interest groups

Clifton WI special interest groups are open to current WI members only.

By committing to any paid event members assume responsibility for any relevant payments for themselves and guests, where applicable, whether or not they actually attend the event. Given time, of course organisers will try to find another member to use and pay for tickets, but WI regulations are strict on bookings and payments and Clifton WI cannot cover any shortfall that arises.

Clifton now has its own book group meeting once a month on Tuesdays at the Alma Tavern. Contact Ann Pulteney, if interested in joining, at

Clifton WI meet on the last Wednesday of the month (except July and December) in the hall at the rear of the Alma Church on Alma Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 2ES. Entrance on St John's Road, or via the wooden gate just round the corner in Alma Vale Road.

We gather at 7.45pm - help is always appreciated setting out the chairs on arrival - and meetings start after a bit of social and greeting time, finishing at about 9.30-10pm.

Non-members are always made very welcome and may attend up to 3 meetings a year at £5 a time. Simply turn up at 7.45pm for introductions, a chat and refreshments; most talks begin around 8 pm. You're guaranteed to find a friendly face to greet you at the door and introduce you to some more friendly faces, and you'll find that as a “new wave” urban WI our interests are very wide and we keep the formalities to a minimum.
