Clifton WI special interest groups

Clifton WI special interest groups are open to current WI members only, although the Theatre Group may make tickets available to guests to help boost numbers for discount purposes and likewise the Away-Days Group may be open to non-members at the organiser's discretion.

By committing to any event members assume responsibility for any relevant payments for themselves and guests, where applicable, whether or not they actually attend the event. Given time, of course organisers will try to find another member to use and pay for tickets, but WI regulations are strict on bookings and payments and Clifton WI cannot cover any shortfall that arises.

Clifton and Westbury Park WIs have joined together to set up a book club for members.  We meet at a venue near Henleaze Library on the second Friday of the month from 2.30.  We have been meeting for a year now, and books we have read include The Bird Tribunal by Agnes Ravatn and The Universe v Alex Woods by Gavin Extence.

If you would like to find out more contact us via the Clifton WI email address: or speak to Lorna Tarr at any meeting.

The new group is up and running under the leadership of Jan Hamilton and Patsy Rose. There's room for more and you'd be very welcome - email Patsy on if you'd like to know more.

From time to time Paulene Denyer arranges a group outing to a place of interest. We've toured the Palace of Westminster and visited Rodmarton House in Gloucestershire, and our latest away-day was at the award-winning Shoe Museum in Street.

If you have any suggestions about a visit, which could be absolutely any place or event of interest anywhere within day-trip distance, do please email or speak to Paulene at a WI meeting.

THEATRE GROUP - Paulene Denyer

BRIDGE - Eli Whitaker

Following on from their tuition course, a small group of players meet on three Wednesday evenings a month and would welcome new members. The tutor often voluntarily comes along to help and join in, although this is not a lesson and you should have a basic working knowledge of the game. The emphasis is on enjoyment and intellectual stimulation rather than cut-throat competition, and there's no charge.
